The UCLan Rams displayed both serious quality and determination, as they cruised to a 54-6 victory against the Huddersfield Hawks.
The Hawks proved to be stubborn opponents in the 1st quarter, with several good passing moves resulting in a lot of yardage being gained on their first offence.
However the Rams broke through on their own offence and scored their first touchdown to take an early 6-0 lead in the match, despite missing the conversion.
UCLan went 13-0 up, converting a second touchdown after a Hawks defensive kick was charged down in their own 10 yard area.
Another great passing move saw the Rams take total control after the 1st quarter, with a converted touchdown putting them 20-0 up and giving them a firm grip of the match.
Into the 2nd quarter, the home side continued to assert their superiority with two well-worked field goals and another converted touchdown, giving them a 33-0 lead at half-time.
Following a minor injury to Huddersfield’s number 21, the visitors began their fightback in earnest, failing to convert their 1st touchdown but reducing the deficit to 33-6.
Not long after the Hawks had registered their first points of the afternoon, The Rams converted a 5th touchdown following a powerful run by Joe Nicholson to take a 40-6 lead.
Luc Kinder ran in touchdown number six in the 4th quarter after a short pass put him through on the Hawk’s end zone.
The rout was completed when Eden Beesley went over to push the Rams’ score past the 50 mark as the match finished 54-6.
The result was the Rams largest margin of victory this season and only highlights their determination to continue their unbeaten run and go one better than last season and enjoy some play-off success.
This Sunday, UCLan welcome the Hull Sharks to the UCLan Sports Arena bidding to complete the double over their Yorkshire opponents.
