Alesha Dixon to switch on Preston Lights, BGT, UCLan welcomes Alesha

On Friday it was announced that Britain’s Got Talent judge, singer and third of Mis-Teeq, Alesha Dixon, will be turning on the Christmas lights in Preston. The event, set to take place at 17:30 on Saturday 14th November, will be followed by a five week long festive market.

The singer, best famed for her singles ‘The Boy Does Nothing’ and ‘Breathe Slow’, has become a staple of British Saturday night television, starting with her success in the 2007 series of Strictly Come Dancing, from which she launched a successful comeback with her album ‘The Alesha Show’. Alesha then became a judge on Strictly, and from that became the replacement for Michael McIntyre on the panel of Britain’s Got Talent.

The event, which Preston Business Improvement District (BID) say will be ‘bigger and better than ever before’ will be part of a day of family friendly entertainment to kick off the festive period. The following market is to include an alpine bar, an ice rink, and family attractions. Quickly following behind the renovation of Fishergate, it’s set to be the first to take place outside, and will showcase the investment that Preston has had pumped into it over the last few years. Alesha’s  album, Do It for Love, is out now.
