BUCS returns: Everything you need to know

After the winter break the BUCS league is returning this Wednesday! Here are some of the many UCLan teams who have hopes of winning silverware at the end of the season.

The football 1st team are 3rd in the Northern 2A division with 3 wins, a draw and a loss. They are just 3 points off the top after a 5-2 defeat to 2nd place Manchester Metropolitan 1sts. They are also in the BUCS Northern Conference Cup where they will play the UCLan 2nd team in the quarter finals on the 18th of February. The football 2nd team are in a 4 horse race for promotion where just 1 point separates 1st and 4th.

In their second season in the BUCS League the football 5th team have won all their games to top the Northern 7C table. Their biggest win of the season so far was a 17-0 thrashing of the Keele 4ths who were the team that cost them promotion last season. Coach Tim Tack hopes to “win the league and develop every player in his squad.”

The women’s football 1sts have won all 5 of their league games to top the Northern 2A table. They also have a BUCS Northern Conference Cup quarter final to look forward to against Chester 1sts.

The rugby league 1st team are unbeaten so far with 3 wins and 1 draw in the Northern 2A division and are currently top of the table by 4 points. Their biggest win of the season so far was 60-6 against Chester and have a Northern Conference Cup quarter final against Durham coming soon.

The rugby union 2nds have won all 5 games which has left them comfortably top of the Northern 5A league. They have a phenomenal goal difference of +72 though they were surprisingly beaten by the University of Bradford 1st XV in the Northern Conference Plate.

The men’s hockey 1st team are joint top of the Hockey Northern 3A table after 4 wins and 1 loss this season.

The UCLan tennis team are joint 1st in the Tennis Northern 2A league with 4 wins and a draw so far.
