Busted are Back…But Not As We Hoped.

Caitlin Mclaren

Busted are back so that means more cute, cheesy pop songs! Maybe not…

Busted have announced their return to music with their third album ‘Night Driver’ inspired by 1980’s movies and electro pop which means they won’t be sounding the same at all!

After their split in 2005, all of us thought that would be the end of Busted especially since the birth of Mcbusted. But not to worry, Charlie Simpson returned to heal our breaking hearts!

Well, not mine.

I am a pessimist when it comes to ‘new’ Busted, don’t get me wrong I was all up for them returning because I purchased tickets to both nights in Manchester but when I heard they would be releasing new material I wanted to lock myself away (just as I did in 2005, no I haven’t got over it).

One of my favourite quotes from the press release was:

“Back in the day, we made the music that we made because that’s what we were into at the time, We made this record because that’s what we wanted to make right now. We didn’t aim it at anybody, we just kind of made it.” – Matt Willis

Well, Matthew Willis, will you please think of the fans?!

Don’t get me wrong, if this stuff was by another band then I probably wouldn’t mind it at all but I feel like a part of my childhood has died with this grown-up stance. I suppose I will wait until the full album to come out before I make any further judgement.
