Labour has stormed to success in the Batley and Spen by-election, drawing in votes from all major parties. The by-election was held to fill the vacancy left after the murder of Jo Cox, who was shot and stabbed in the summer during the EU Referendum campaign. The Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, and UKIP all did not field a candidate as a mark of respect to Cox.

Former Coronation Street star Tracy Brabin, depicted above, was elected as her replacement with 85.8% of the vote, and a majority of 81% over the English Democrats:
