Preston’s Christmas lights switch on takes place this Saturday November 25, marking the start of the festive period.
From 5.30pm, Flag Market will be taken over with festive cheer, and special guest performers and a Christmas concert. Guests include Steve McFadden, Union J, operatic sensation Sean Ruane, and Katy Ashworth of CBeebies.
This year’s organisers, Business Improvement District (BID) Preston, have promised to make the annual event extra special, including an enhanced ending which is not to be missed.
Mark Whittle, from Preston BID, said: “The Christmas Concert and Switch On is widely regarded as a headline event in the city’s calendar.
“We’re always blown away by the number of people who come out to enjoy the event to help us officially start Christmas in Preston.
“We’re delighted to be working with the North West’s largest commercial station, Smooth Radio North West to stage another outstanding show.”
St George’s Shopping Centre will be sponsoring the festivities. General manager, Andrew Stringer, said: “It’s a pleasure for us to sponsor this flagship event once again.
“Christmas is a great time of year to get together with the family and we’re proud to be associated with a quality event that officially launches this magical time of year.”
Prior to the switch on at 5.30pm, Santa and his reindeer will be making an appearance at Flag Market from 2-4pm.
