CORBYN’S SHADOW CABINET CRISIS – PART ELEVEN

By Joe Young - Politics Editor

Loyal: Shadow Defence Secretary Emily Thornberry (Not Pictured)

Emily Thornberry next came out in support of Jeremy Corbyn.

Thornberry, who was removed from her Shadow Cabinet role by Ed Miliband after “White Van-gate”, was given the Shadow Defence Secretary role by Corbyn.

Speaking on the World at One, she said that she was surprised by all the resignations, and that Ian Murray was the only one of the mutineers to speak out against Corbyn at the last Shadow Cabinet meeting on Friday.

Uncharacteristically for an MP who is always happy to call out people she disagrees with, Thornberry has been fairly quiet on the issue of Corbyn, but her support places the score at 7-4 for the mutineers. Still in the lead, but the loyalists are rapidly catching up with them.
