It is with great sorrow that we report the death of first year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery student; Noriko Seida at IQ Kopa over the weekend.

Preston Police have released the following statement:

Police were contacted by security staff at the University of Central Lancashire around 8pm on Saturday 28th November, informing them of the death of a 30 year-old student at the halls in Moor Lane, Preston. Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.

This statement has been used to alleviate rumours which circulated through the anonymous social media site, Yik Yak.

Professor Cathy Jackson, head of the School of Medicine said: Although she was a relatively new student, Norkio had settled well into the course and was very committed to her studies.
