The B team became the first within the UCLan’s equestrian club to qualify for a regional tournament.
Last week, the B team took part in the final competition of the year, which was held at the University of Leeds.
UCLan secured their place in dramatic fashion, finishing one point above nearest challengers Bishop Burton College and retaining 1st spot in the overall leader board.
This was despite Leonie Holicki achieving UCLan’s best finish in 8th on the individual table.
The B team which also consisted of Maddie Refoy, Jade Cannon and Katy Whitehead placed 2nd, ahead of Bishop Burton in 4th after the end of the dressage event.
Burton also finished behind UCLan in show jumping, handing the B team a place at the regional event next month at Myerscough College.
Whitehead, who is the current chair of the club as well as being on the B team, said: “Qualifying for regionals has been a goal for not just the immediate team but for the whole club since the start of the year.
“Intense training and the backing of such a loyal club has seen the team finally achieve our dream and secure qualification after achieving 2nd place at the last competition of the year in Leeds.
“Whatever happens at regionals the whole club is extremely proud to be representing UCLan and we are determined to perform to our very best.”
