With A Level results out and university places confirmed your elected UCLan Student Affairs Committee (SAC) have some advice for new and returning students.
We asked each member of the SAC to give us their advice for you.
Tom – Activities and Participation Officer : You should come and get involved and join something, whether it’s a club, society, media or just volunteering – it’s the best thing you can do!
Lucy – Campaigns Officer: Make the most of every opportunity, there’s so much possibility!
Tas – Education Officer: Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it, it’s always there!
Hannah – Media Officer: Make sure you enjoy it! Coming to University is so much more than just the academic side, it’s an entire new experience and you’ll learn a lot about yourself!
Josie – Students’ Union President: Speak to everyone and anyone, you’ll meet so many new people and you never know who your friends might be
We also asked them what one thing should people bring to university.
Tom – Activities and Participation Officer: Condoms – it’s so important for you to look after yourself and stay safe!
Lucy – Campaigns Officer: Always have your Mum’s number on hand – sometimes something might happen and you’ll just want to speak to your Mum
Tas – Education Officer: Maintenance grant – make sure you budget before you get here, dealing with your own finances can be difficult at first!
Hannah – Media Officer: One of those huge bags of pasta – seriously, ask your parents to get you one if you’re moving out. They never seem to run out and last for ages, a big help when you’re skint!
Josie – Students’ Union President: My sports equipment, I knew I was going to join a team at UCLan and it was the best decision I made!
