UCLan secured the Yorkshire 1A title during their first season in the new division, winning all eight matches and scoring over 300 points.

The Rams went one better than last season, when they finished runners-up in the North West division, after losing just once.

Lee Horrocks, who is one of the captains of the side, described how it felt when they were crowned champions.

“When we won that Hull game we were ecstatic, the whole team, including coaches, flooded the field on the final whistle.

“It was such a close game and so it was all the more satisfying to come out on top!

“The 2015-16 UCLan Rams made history this year with our first division title, and our first unbeaten season.

“It makes me proud to lead my brothers out there and I couldn’t be more pleased with my brothers and sisters on and off the field, this team wouldn’t be the same without every one of them.”

The Rams’ hopes of progressing through the play-offs were ended after losing 22-25 to the University of Nottingham 1sts at the UCLan Sports Arena.
