Last Band Standing – Heat I

By Christopher Daly

The Ferret bar of Fylde road has launched its first Battle of Bands to promote local talent from around the North West.

The first heat of five played out on Thursday 6/11/14, each heat is set to be between four bands, however for this first heat The Folkestra, from Colne, had to drop out late in the day.

The competing bands were ‘Three drunk girls’, a 3 man melodic alt-pop ensemble performing their acoustic set, Satyr Play, an indie  rock band made up of student’s from UCLan  and Jekyll a melancholic indie rock band with a deceptive look.

One shock of the night was 3 drunk girl’s drum box player Chris McKendrick working his hand in to literally bloody mess having forgotten the glove he normally uses on the acoustic set.

The winners of the night, decided by a trio of judges in combination with an audience vote were Jekyll and Satyr Play.

The competition continues with a new round next Thursday, 20th November.
