A takeaway in Preston City Centre has been engulfed in flames.
Pictures show Sandos takeaway on Church Street under huge flames as smoke covered the summer sky in Preston, leaving the entire road cordoned off.
Witnesses at the scene say the flames are beginning to die down but the takeaway’s roof is now completely destroyed with eight fire engines trying to douse the flames.
According to a spokesman for Lancashire Fire Service, a call was sent out at 10.45am this morning to the Fire Service to say a fire had broke out on the bottom floor of the two storey building. Initially, three units were sent out until a request just after 11am was submitted for more, including for a cherry picker type vehicle to allow jets of water to be sprayed onto the roof.
The spokesman also fed back that the Fire Service has no reason to believe anyone is still in the building and no-one has been hurt.
Any people in neighbouring buildings have been asked to evacuate the building by police as the fire has threatened to spread.

Pluto Reporter Andy Hall contacted us about the incident as he revealed he woke up to the smell of burning from his flat.
“I woke up to the smell of burning. Poor Sandos, the street is all cordoned off, I hope everyone got out okay.”
Police have also cordoned off Church Street with diversions now in place around most of the town centre.
The fire service have still not determined the cause of the fire.
