Tonight, Championship action resumes for Preston North End as they travel to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City.
Midfielder Ben Pearson, who was signed from Manchester United yesterday, could make his debut for PNE against last season’s League One champions.
North End manager Simon Grayson is also likely to restore Daniel Johnson and Paul Gallagher to the side after they were rested in the FA Cup defeat against Peterborough.
Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is eligible for tonight’s game after his parent club, United refused him permission to play in the match at the weekend.
City manager Steve Cotterill will likely name an unchanged side from the one which drew with Premier League West Brom in the FA Cup, except for the inclusion of Adam El-Abd, who was cup tied at the weekend.
Earlier in the season, both teams played out a 1-1 draw at Deepdale, Bristol’s Aaron Wilbraham scoring a late equaliser after Neil Kilkenny’s opener.
Whilst Grayson admits his side have a lot of respect for his opposition tonight, he wants to emulate the kind of performance which earned them all three points at Ashton Gate last season.
His opposite number Cotterill, believes the results against Preston haven’t justified the performances and thinks his side have been more potent in attacking areas in games gone by.
Victory for the Lilywhites, who are in 15th place could see them move as high as 11th whilst Bristol City, currently third from bottom, could move out of the relegation zone with three points tonight.
