PNE head up to the North East tomorrow, to face promotion-chasing Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
North End more than held their own against last season’s play-off finalists when the two sides met at Deepdale earlier in the season, picking up an impressive point and keeping a clean sheet.
Boro have won four out of their last five at home whilst PNE suffered their first defeat in four, losing 2-1 against relegation-threatened Fulham earlier in the week.
Saturday’s match will be the toughest yet, according to PNE manager Simon Grayson.
He admits his side need to be resolute and at their absolute best to have a chance of pulling off a result there.
After securing a 3rd successive win on Tuesday, Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has warned his side against becoming complacent.
He feels they still have the potential to finish high enough in the table as long as they maintain their recent form.
Onto team news and Grayson is unlikely to have Tom Clarke available, after he suffered from concussion in the game against Fulham whilst Calum Woods went off with a calf injury in the same match.
Jordan Hugill could also miss after injuring his ankle at Deepdale the other night.
Unlike the North End boss, Karanka has a full strength squad to choose from ahead of the match tomorrow afternoon.
PNE could move above Birmingham City into 9th if they win at the Riverside whilst Boro have the chance to finish the day at the top of the table if they claim all three points.
