Preston North End play in their final Lancashire derby of the season, hosting promotion-chasing Burnley at Deepdale tonight.
Second-half goals from Will Keane and Daniel Johnson ensured a memorable win in the away fixture between these two at Turf Moor in December last year.
Burnley come into the match on a twenty-match unbeaten run whilst Preston have lost just twice at home since the start of the year.
PNE manager Simon Grayson is eagerly anticipating tonight’s derby match and says the players can’t wait either.
There are things at stake in different respects for both sides which is what will make the game all that more important he added.
His opposite number Sean Dyche has played down the occasion and says a win is the only thing that matters, regardless of the history between the clubs.
Anders Lindegaard and Marnick Vermijl both went off with shoulder and foot injuries respectively during the draw away at Birmingham City which could rule them out of tonight’s fixture.
North End might be boosted by the return of Calum Woods in defence, who injured his calf a few weeks ago.
As for the visitors, striker Lucas Jutkiewicz is the only player unavailable, still recovering from a cruciate knee ligament injury picked up near the start of the season.
If North End were to complete the double over the Clarets, they would leapfrog Tuesday’s opponents, City, into 9th place whilst Burnley could move one point clear of Middlesbrough at the top of the table with victory.
