Craig Forsyth scored the only goal of the game as Preston North End lost 1-0 to Derby County at Deepdale.
Forsyth scored a header late in the game to condemn Preston North End to their third successive Championship loss in a row.
The visitors started the game on the front foot and nearly took the lead in the 15th minute through Tom Ince who had a curling shot rattle the woodwork.
North End grew into the game and started to put the Rams under pressure.
Callum Robinson who had looked dangerous, weaved his way through the defence and forced Scott Carson into a great save.
PNE went close from the resultant corner with Alan Browne heading the ball just over the bar.
In the second half, Robinson latched onto a poor backpass but the visitors responded well to block his shot.
Tom Clarke was the next person to have an effort on goal as he attempted to chip the goalkeeper with a header from 40 yards but Scott Carson managed to catch the ball.
The home side continued to press for the lead and came close when Greg Cunningham played a ball across the face of goal to Eoin Doyle but Derby managed to clear the ball before it reached the PNE player.
The Rams came close through Chris Martin who headed the ball just over the crossbar.
Their goal came in the 87th minute when Forsyth headed Will Hughes’ cross into the back of the net.
The loss is the latest blow to North End this week with talisman Joe Garner edging towards a move to Rangers.
