Media Awards Winners Announced!

This evening, the UCLan Student Media Awards took place for the first time in a long time. The Media Awards aim to celebrate the achievements of Student Media volunteers and honour their commitments to their respective platforms. There were five categories of award – awards for the student newspaper Pluto, awards for the radio station Frequency Radio, awards for the TV Station PSTV, cross-platform awards, and special recognition awards for individuals to recognise their commitment to student media over the years.

Pluto Editor of the Year: Caitlin Mclaren

Pluto Article of the Year: Fishergate Bomb Scare by Joe Young

PSTV Awards

PSTV Manager of the Year: Ariana Scott

PSTV Crew Member of the Year: Luke Meyers

PSTV Programme of the Year: Red Hot Review

Frequency Radio Awards

Frequency Radio Manager of the Year: Haydn Jeavons

Frequency Radio Host of the Year: Emili Peake

Frequency Radio Show of the Year: 48 Hour Children in Need Show

Cross Platform Awards

Best News Coverage: Pluto News Team

Best Sports Coverage: Pluto Sport

Best Entertainment: Writer’s Block

Technical Excellence Award: Ryan Sheff

Student Media Best Newcomer: Caitlin Mclaren

Special Recognition Awards

Pluto: Alex Sambrook

PSTV: Ástrós Ýr Eggertsdóttir

Frequency Radio: Haydn Jeavons

Awards Show Host and UCLan Students’ Union Media Officer Hannah Mason said,

“I’m so happy we had a successful media awards. Huge congratulations to everybody who not only won but was also nominated. I’m so proud of everything achieved throughout student media this year and that’s down to the incredibly hard work of all the student media volunteers. I’m so excited to continue working with them all over the next year.”

At Pluto, we would like to thank every Student Media volunteer for their invaluable contributions over the year, and would like to say a special congratulations to those shortlisted and the winners.
