On a sunny afternoon UCLan met Lancaster 1sts in a local derby with the added competitiveness of cup day as well.
UCLan were looking to get back to winning ways with a victory over their fierce rivals and got off to a bright start with a free kick from Whitley which went just wide of the post from 20 yards out.
A minute later Dunroe whipped another free kick into the box which was headed towards goal and forced a great save from the Lancaster goalkeeper.
The first half had few chances but the game was heated with UCLan flying into tackles with Dunroe receiving a booking and a firm warning leaving coach Andy Harrison with a decision to make.
In the 35th minute Lancaster hit a free kick just over the bar and it seemed the game was going to be decided by a set piece due to the stop start nature of the game.
Moments later a ball in from Dunroe was attacked at the back post and hit the post from point blank range. Immediately after Molloy rand down the left wing and drove a dangerous cross across the six yard box with no one there to tap the ball in.
On the stroke of half time Alcock dribbled past the Lancaster midfielder and toe poked the ball past the goalkeeper. The keeper got a hand to it but was unable to keep it out.
After the break UCLan continued to dominate and in the 62nd minute Whitley cut inside and struck a great effort into the bottom right hand corner to make it 2-0.
Lancaster had little to show that they are in a higher division to UCLan and in stoppage time had chances that were saved by Hepburn and blocked by Kimona in the dying seconds.
