The UCLan 5ths extended their 100% win record in the league with a 3-0 win against the University College of Football Business 3rd team.
Goals from Joel Cummings, Liam Vickery and Jack Howarth secured all 3 points for the UCLan 5ths to increase their chances of promotion.
The first goal came in the 6th minute when a Joel Cummings’ driven shot from 30 yards went in the bottom left corner.
The second goal came from an overlap on the right hand side of pitch by Sam McLoughlin and Tom Ottaway which led to Jack Howarth having a shot well saved and Liam Vickery pouncing on the rebound.
The 3rd goal came shortly after halftime when the UCLan 5ths worked a 2-on-1 opportunity with Lucas Thornley providing the assist for Jack Howarth.
Sam McLoughlin excelled today at right back which has earned him the nickname “Sami Alves” by his teammates.
Having said that though, it was a brilliant effort by the entire team as at times in the second half they were under pressure in defence but managed to keep a clean sheet.
The manager of the UCLan 5ths, Tim Tack said “You could see the individual talents that were on display from our side.”
When asked about his team’s promotion aspirations he said that “The team we’ve just played are probably going to be up there towards the end of the season. I think it’s only them and Dearne Valley that are going to really push us for the top spot. Coming out here and showing them that we’re a minimum of 3 goals better than them is sort of sending out a message to the rest of the league.”
