Five first half goals from Jonny Morgan, Liam Vickery, Sam Shobande and a double by Jack Howarth made it 5-0 to UCLan Men’s 5ths in the Northern Conference Plate.
The first of the goals came in the 7th minute which was a curling free kick by Jonny Morgan about 30 yards out from the left flank which curled into the top right corner.
Keele struggled to get out of their own half and on the 16th minute Liam Vickery doubled UCLan’s lead with a close range finish thanks to an assist by Jack Howarth. Just two minutes later Sam Shobande, who scored twice in the last league game headed in from two yards out after the Keele goalkeeper spilled a cross from Liam Vickery.
In the 25th minute Sam Shobande made a darting run into the box and laid the ball across to Jack Howarth who scored the first of his two goals. Sam Shobande provided the assist again for Jack Howarth who finished from close range to make it 5-0 to UCLan at half time.
UCLan coach Tim Tack said “Some of the football that we played was such a high standard and I’m really proud of the boys for the effort that they put in. Especially the start as well because we’ve looked a bit shaky in the first 20 minutes of most games we’ve played lately. Getting out of the blocks early was something I said to them earlier in the week so it was really good for me to see.”
Despite the good result he also had to add that he wanted his team to:“Keep up the standard of football played today and it’s the type of football we should be playing regularly.”
