Greg Cunningham and Alan Browne will represent PNE tomorrow night at the North West Football Awards.

Cunningham is in contention for the Championship player of the year award after making 43 league appearances last campaign with him keeping 14 clean sheets and scoring twice as North End finished 11th.

The Irish left back signed for PNE back in July 2015 from Bristol City and has since then come on to become an integral part of Simon Grayson’s side.

Cunningham will be looking to add on to his individual awards collection as earlier on this year in May he picked up the Player of the Year award at PNE’s end of season award ceremony.

Andre Gray and Ben Marshall will both be stiff competitors however though for the Irishman. Gray of North End’s Lancashire rivals Burnley was the league’s top scorer with 25 goals a key part in their promotion to the Premier League.

Marshall of North End’s other Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers will also be looking to win the award as he played a key role in the heart of the Rovers midfield making 44 appearances in the league last season scoring two goals.

Also Alan Browne is in contention for the Rising Star of the Year award for North End.

The 21-year-old featured 36 times for Preston last season in what was his first season in the championship having signed for them from Cork City in January 2014.

The young Irishman contributed three goals last season and after having a successful first season in the Championship and becoming a fan favourite, he was rewarded with a new three-year contract towards the end of the 2015/16 campaign keeping him at North End till 2021.

Browne also picked up awards at Preston’s end of season award ceremony as he accumulated both the club and the fan’s young player of the year awards.

Browne does face some strong competition in the category, with the likes of Premier League starlets Emre Can, Michael Keane, Kelechi iheanacho and Marcus Rashford all in contention for rising star of the year.  With Rashford the firm favourite for the award after his sensational season at Manchester United.
