Police appeal for information on student assault

Police are appealing for information and witnesses of an assault of a 19-year-woman.  

The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday morning (16th September) in Preston.

At around 4am, the woman was been walking home. She reached Garstang Road near to the junction with St George’s Road when a man made a number of inappropriate sexual comments towards her before subjecting her to a sexual assault.

the woman managed to hit the man in the head before he went off towards the petrol station on Garstang Road with a carrier bag that is believed to have a glass bottle inside.

 DS Jerry Sturgess of Preston CID said: “This was a frightening attack on a young student who was been left very shaken up following this worrying ordeal.

“If anyone has any information about this, I would urge them to come forward.”

 The man has been described as Asian, late 30s to 40s, around 5ft 6ins, of small build with slightly curly short dark hair. He is to believe to have been driving a small dark coloured car.
