Today news broke of a much loved UCLan student and staff member who has unfortunately passed away.

The Students’ Union have released a statement on hearing of the tragic news.

“It is with huge sadness that the Students’ Union have heard of the passing of student and staff member Glen ‘Cas’ Carrigan and we send our thoughts to all his family and close friends.

Glen’s passion for many pastimes led to his involvement with so many societies over the years. In particular we wish to celebrate his major contribution to the creation of both the Japanese and Atheist, Humanist and Secularist Societies.

It is poignant at this time of year that we also mark that Glen was a founder member of the Union’s Welcome Team and over his 4 years with the Union will have welcomed so many of you to Preston, encouraged you to get involved with the same passion that he did and above all else left you with a smile.”

Pluto would like to extend their condolences to Glen’s family and friends during this time.

  1. I like many others called Glen my friend and someone I admired. He was passionate, intelligent and a real force of good in life and for the University. Glen will be missed, myself and his best friend Jim will be organising a small humanist service for him, sometime this week at the University. Please feel free to come and celebrate Glen and what he stood for, his passion for science and discovery and more so being human. More news will follow.

  2. Rest in peace – you touched the lives of so many people without them even realising it, and now they’ll never get to give you the thanks you deserve. x
