PNE have signed 22-year-old, English born striker Will Keane on a season long loan from Manchester United.
Despite only making one appearance for Manchester United in the Premier League as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers in December 2011, Keane has found himself loaned out to several clubs over the past three years.
During his time at Manchester United, he has represented England at all levels but unfortunately suffered a knee ligament injury representing the Under-19’s in 2013 where he missed the rest of the season.
Looking to further his career, in the 2013/2014 season, Manchester United decided to loan him out to Wigan Athletic for the first half of the season, for which he made 4 appearances in the Championship. In the second half of the season, Keane had a spell with Queens Park Rangers where he made 10 appearances for the side. More recently in 2014/2015, when loaned for half a season with Sheffield Wednesday, he made 13 appearances and bagging himself 3 goals showing he has experience under his belt at a young age. By playing with these teams, Keane has a knowledge of the other teams within the Championship and this could benefit PNE in the upcoming season.
On his move to Deepdale, Keane stated ‘I’m really excited to be here and I am looking forward to the new season and the challenges ahead’ furthering his comments by saying ‘I want to come here and do my best to help the team; they had a very successful year last year and hopefully the whole team and the club can build on that.’
Will Keane will be playing alongside Joe Garner, Jermaine Beckford and Paul Gallagher as it looks to be an exciting season ahead for the loanee adding to the strong strike force.
