Preston North End remain in the bottom three after continuing their winless streak against Cardiff City.

North End finished 0-0 against the Welsh visitors, meaning that the home side haven’t won a league game in two months.

Largely PNE dominated the game in both possession and in chances but Jordan Hugill and Daniel Johnson failed to convert the best chances of the game.

The first chance of the game came just two minutes in; as Jordan Hugill failed to find the target with a left foot volley, after being set up by Greg Cunningham’s cross.

After a sharp start PNE continued to apply pressure, but for all their territorial dominance no rewards were being given.

A succession of corners created some squeaky moments for the Cardiff defence, but ultimately the Lilywhites continued to be frustrated as they failed to find the target.

Cardiff’s only real chance of the first half came from a counter attack. A quick break gave Mason the opportunity to be one on one with the keeper, but a heavy touch allowed England U-21 International Jordan Pickford to pounce on the ball.

Paul Gallagher smashed a shot from 25 yards only to deflect off of the back of a Bluebirds defender and fly over the bar.

The second half became a mirror image of the first half, Jordan Hugill had headed chances but failed to convert.

Defender Sean Morrison headed wide of an empty net after a free kick found him in space while ‘keeper Pickford found himself in no man’s land. Morrison and Pickford did clash during the effort but both were fine to continue.

PNE continued to hold the lion’s share of the ball, but when Cardiff got the ball they looked dangerous with it.

A Peter Whittingham freekick from the edge of the area needed a good save from Pickford shortly after Sammy Ameobi had two shots blocked inside of Pickford’s area.

The home side continued to press going into the last 10 minutes of the game, loan signing Adam Reach showing good skill beating his marker and supplying crosses.

It wasn’t enough though as North End’s forwards struggled to find the target.
