[REVIEW] Birdy – Keeping Your Head Up

By Caitlin Mclaren - Culture Editor

Keeping Your Head Up comes from Birdy’s third studio album. Co-produced by Steven Mac, it’s the first song released as the album itself is being expected big things from.

Birdy commented on the track saying “I hope the song is inspiring, it’s meant to feel powerful and uplifting. It’s about finding a light in the dark, having the strength to hold on to it and overcome the times when we feel completely lost.”

I have to agree with her comments, I first heard the song on Radio X whilst cleaning my kitchen and it’s the first song in a long time that actual made me turn up the volume and actually listen to. It’s a refreshing track, the good-feel rhythm with amazing vocal points. It gives me hope ultimately for female artists within the indie genre, dare I say she sounds like the love child of Florence and The Machine?

The feel good tone is a remainder of the summer where I hope to see her name in lights amongst the British festival scene.

I am excited to see what is produced in the near future by Birdy, I purchased the track and currently waiting on the full album to be released later this year!
