[REVIEW] Bruno Mars – 24K Magic (Single)

The American singer-song writer made a recent comeback releasing the new track from his third album, 24k Magic – the name of the single and the album.

Early in 2016 Bruno Mars’ album was one of the 20 most anticipated albums to be released during the year.  While in the studio Mars’ worked alongside Charles Moniz who claimed the new album was ‘the next movement of Bruno’. Mars’ also worked with Skrillex who stated that what they were working on was ‘so different, awesome and next level’.

The single, which was released on October 7, 2016 starts very techno-esque with the lyrics sounding like the computers narrator trying to sing. However, this only lasts for around 30 seconds before the voice we all know and love begins and the song actually becomes quite good.  With a catchy beat and lyrics what you can sing along to, this song will have you dancing along and leave you singing it on repeat in your head for the foreseeable future.

The song has the same feel to is as Up-Town Funk had, which doesn’t surprise me, as Mars’ seems to have changed his style – both in his music and his looks, since the collaboration with Mark Ronson was released. His songs have become considerably more R&B sounding.

Still the single has done its job as this song strangely leaves me wanting more, and anticipating what is next to be released by Bruno.

If, like me, you’re left wanting more from Bruno, he has a UK tour lined up for 2017 – tickets are currently on sale.
