[REVIEW] The Hummingbirds – Knocking On My Door (Single)

Caitlin Mclaren

The five-piece from Liverpool are set to be making many ears open after they release ‘Knocking at my Door’ on 18th March 2016.

Taking inspiration from Liverpool giants such as Echo and The Bunnymen and The Beatles comes this fruity, foot-tapping song right from the mouths of the influences.

Jay Davies’ lyrics burst out onto the melody sounding like a cleaner version of Miles Kane. Significantly, we hear the togetherness of the band as they sing together during numerous parts of the song.

The guitar throughout sounds almost familiar but really different from the indie bands we hear day in day out.

It’s hard to draw the attention away from their working class roots, Liverpool seems to have a subtle charm throughout their music scene.

Listening to this song leaves you wanting more as you hear the potential from a young band who have the capability to become a lot more than their 30,000 followers on various social media outlets (as if that’s a small number anyway!).

I think it’s important to mention that Liverpool haven’t really had a big name since Miles Kane and arguably he’s only humble to his scene. Hopefully, it won’t be too long when The Hummingbirds are the word scattering across the UK.

Upon completing their tour, Hummingbirds are going to be doing an album launch in their hometown which will hopefully reach the heights they’re aiming for! I for one, can’t wait to hear the progressing sound.
