Police have been informed about an unconfirmed scanner being fitted to the cashpoint outside of the front of the Student’s Union building on Fylde road.
Two members of staff reported their suspicions of a device after they found that money had been withdrawn from their account without their knowledge. Warnings about the machine quickly circulated on Facebook and Twitter over the next couple of days as well as members of staff receiving emails.
Security have said that they have been receiving emails about the Students’ Union cashpoint but have said that an engineer has tested the machine and found “no irregularities.”
Anybody who has used the ATM, which is next to Essentials, is advised to check their bank account for any unusual withdrawals and report any problems to their banks.
