As we say goodbye to the Spring/Summer season of 2013, we also say goodbye to the some of the season’s hottest street styles. From Manchester to London, Barcelona to Mexico, it seems the S/S street style speaks every language and shows no sign of letting up as this summer’s style staple; pastel hues, bleed into the Autumn/ Winter season. Leanne Sigsworth reports on some of her favourite styles sported on the streets this summer.

It’s time to put your 60’s sunglasses and monochrome outfits back into the neglected, dusty summer drawer, as the winter season is set to be one lavished with bold prints and eclectic mixes of textures, so let’s take a look at the diverse styles of last season.

 MONOCHROME

The ultimate classic combination; black and white. It’s a simple but completely underestimated style for both men and women! The touches of colour and hints of gold jewellery screams class and style. The classic take on monochrome is dark bottoms and a light tops but this summer the style has been completely reversed, this edgy yet iconic look is a sure fire winner!

DENIM

With mom jeans and denim dungarees making a comeback, it’s no surprise the festival scene was shrouded in the stuff! Acid wash seems to have taken off this summer with the outdated style appearing on last season’s catwalks it was a dead cert for trend forecasters. Team a denim piece with strong accessories, a studded bag seen below or a pair of 60’s sunglasses to complete the look.

DIP DYE

Ombre trend started late last year, what this summer has brought us is neon tips. It’s been nearly two years since the concept of clashing colours and patterns was thought to be fashionable, but we’ve seen an array of hair colours being used as an accessory! Never mind smouldering brunettes or hot red heads it’s the two tone clash that’s storming its way down the street catwalks now!

ORIENTAL GRUNGE

The atypical prints of cherry blossom and oriental robins have been tainted by dark silks and pale embroidery, bringing a new style to the stunning three dimensional patterns. An oriental jacket as seen below can be worn with leggings, loafers and dainty jewellery as the jacket will be doing all the talking in this outfit. Be careful when matching colours and patterns, the intricate oriental patterns have a lot of colour themselves so maybe just stick to the basics with this one.

STATEMENT TROUSERS

It’s looking like this trend is set to stay with us throughout the winter. Aztec, floral and geometric prints have been dominating the trouser department this summer.  You can’t go wrong with a plain vest and statement necklace as seen below, for a more sophisticated look team it with a plain blazer.
