That’s a ‘hole’ lot of drama

A major road in the city centre has been closed after a hole suddenly appeared this afternoon.

The mysterious hole is believed to be a foot wide and appeared just before 1pm today on Lancaster Road, Preston.

The reason why the hole has appeared has not been revealed but Preston Bus announced that some of their buses would be diverted due to the closure and issued a warning about delays.

A spokesperson from Preston bus service said: “Following the sudden appearance of a hole in the road on Lancaster road in Preston some buses are diverted.
“Outbound from the bus station services 14, 31/31A, 23, 44, 88A, 80 – will divert via Church Street and Ringway, rejoining original routes as soon as possible.

“Some delays are probable, especially at peak travel times. Services inbound to the bus station are unaffected.

“As this is an emergency road closure we have no indication yet how long the diversions continue.

“Apologies for any inconvenience.”
