A new art and poetry exhibition has been shortlisted for the Saboteur Award for Best Wildcard at the Saboteur indie literature awards this year.
The Deerhart exhibition is the result of a collaboration between poet and UCLan Research Fellow Yvonne Reddick, and multimedia artist Diana Zwibach.
Yvonne and Diana use art and poetry to take viewers on a journey into wild nature and into our own animal nature. Uplifting and uncanny by turns, Deerhart is a celebration of survival in a fragile world.
Deerhart has toured to the New Hall Art Collection, Cambridge, as part of the collaborative exhibition ‘In the Open’. PR1 Gallery, UCLan, showcased the exhibition in January 2016, and Creative Writing students wrote new poems in response to the visual artworks.
A poem from the Deerhart poetry pamphlet has also reached an audience of 3.5 million at the Blackpool Illuminations.
UCLan Literature Live students Katie, Kendra, Andliya, Sabah and Callum have helped to launch Deerhart, the poetry pamphlet that inspired the exhibition, and have played an important role in publicising the project.
Yvonne Reddick said: “This is fantastic news for UCLan, for Preston, and for culture in the North West. I’m very grateful to UCLan students and staff, to PR1 Gallery and to the literary community for all they have done to support the project.”
You can vote for Deerhart to win until the 24th of May, at the Saboteur Awards’ page: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/75VBHQP
