UCLan History Society To Make Their Debut

By Joanne Card - Reporter

The UCLan Through the Ages project has inspired many students and members of the community to become engaged with the history of Preston and how the city has changed over the years.

It also has inspired a second-year History student, Sarah Pearson, to start UCLan’s very own History Society. She hopes the society will encourage History students and people from other courses to get together and share their love of the subject.

The new society will also give students the opportunity to explore aspects of history not covered by the degree, with external speakers and our own lecturers giving talks on subjects that they have a special interest in.

The History Society Committee wants the group to be driven by the interest of its members and will be taking suggestions for areas of history that members want covered. If you have an urge to discuss an area of history with other like-minded individuals, then head on down to the History Society’s first event.

UCLan’s newest academic society launches on Thursday 5th May in LH325. Cake, games and a selfie booth with the History Society’s small and fluffy mascot will be available from 4.30 – 6.30PM.
