The UCLan Hockey club recently raised £965.89 for charity at a successful fundraising event.
The money donated will go to Sam’s Gift who help support teenagers and young adults with cancer.
It was a cause close to the heart of the Hockey club as Sarah Cleary lost her friend Sam in November 2014 to cancer and the charity was set up in his memory.
The fundraising event was held at 53 Degrees and numerous of the other UCLan sport teams attended the event.
Chairwoman of the Hockey club, Sophie Taylor said: “It feels great. I think this event has really helped integrate the sports teams and get everyone mingling, I’m looking forward to the BUCS season not only to play but to support all the teams that have supported us.
“It’s good to be able to recognise ourselves as one big team rather than individual clubs!
“The charity is relatively new still, and the work they do is amazing! The family is so strong and such friendly people, they deserve every bit of recognition they get.
“We as a club are in awe of their strength, commitment and the love they have shown to a group in which they only knew one person!
“We are so happy to give them every penny we have raised to go towards more journey boxes for teenagers and young adults going through the toughest time in their lives.
