The UCLan netball team will stage a one-off match this week at the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Captain and vice captains from each of the four teams will come together, with various members of UCLan Sport staff making up the opposition.
The game, which runs from 2-4PM next Wednesday, will be played ahead of England’s Netball two-week event ‘Net 10 for life’ in recognition of its partnership with Cancer Research UK.
From Saturday 27th February, UCLan’s four netball teams will compete against each other, holding bake sales and various competitions, to see who can raise the most money.
Emily Cowell, who is the University Netball Officer at UCLan, wants as many people as possible to get involved in helping to raise money for the charity.
“On the last Friday we would love to see as many people as possible wearing pink and if they could donate to the charity via one of our netballers then that would be even better!”
Cowell also has ideas further down the line to help raise even more money.
“I am looking at organising a tournament to take place at USA (UCLan Sports Arena) for our development squads & for the development/social squads of the colleges in Lancashire, which will hopefully take place after the Easter holidays.”
The club has already raised £60 for Cancer Research UK through their ‘Pink Week’ t-shirts.
