UCLan student Clara Ashton has been called up to join Team GB at the 28th Winter Universiade, hosted in Kazakhstan.

For 19-year-old Ashton, it’ll be her fourth Team GB call up since she turned 15.
Her most recent call up being for GB’s Olympic Qualification earlier on this year, which saw the GB Ladies fail to qualify.
The forward is looking forward to play for her country. Speaking to The Pulse, she said: “It’s always a pleasure to represent your country especially when you’re doing it playing the sport you love. I’ve been playing for GB since I was 15 and the excitement of when you get selected never fades, it’s always an honour”
This will be Team GB’s first appearance at the Universiade since 2013 which saw the women finish fifth ahead of Spain.
Great Britain will face hosts Kazakhstan on January 29th. The team will also face Canada and China.
