Lancashire Police have today confirmed that someone killed in a car accident was a UCLan student.
Milda Okunyte, a 20 year-old Illustration student died in earlier this week. She was found badly injured in the roadway at Clifton on Tuesday night and died in hospital soon after. It has been suspected that Milda was involved in a hit and run accident.
A 26-year-old man from St Annes was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and was bailed until May. Friends and family have been paying tribute Milda on her social media.
Steve Wilkin, Milda’s Course Leader, has paid tribute to her calling her “a very talented artist with amazing potential.”
Milda has been described by staff and students as “warm and friendly”. Katie Ryan, commented: “My beautiful soul sister. So wise and talented. Was a privilege to know you, even for such a short time. You taught me so much. Our little community here in Preston will never be the same.”

The university is offering a support service for anybody who has been affected by this incident and wishes to talk.
Police are currently working to trace Milda’s movements that day and are appealing for information. Milda was last seen at 3pm on Tuesday in Preston town centre. If you have any information please contact the police.
