A second year Events Management student has made the top 50 for the Management Undergraduate of the Year 2016 award.

Undergraduate of the Year are searching  universities across the UK to find the most outstanding management undergraduate. Students must have an “aptitude for customer service and sales, flexibility, leadership, a strong work ethic and great communication skills.”

Gracie Donoghue, 19, received the news on Wednesday and will now go forward to the next stage of the process, which includes an interview about why she deserves the award.

For those who know Gracie, this news may not have come as a shock due to the array of activities she’s involved in, alongside being a student Gracie also works for the the university, the Students’ Union and volunteers for student media, being part of the managerial team of Frequency Radio as the Head of PR and Social Media. Not only that, but Gracie is also the elected School President for her school, the School of Management.

On the Undergraduate of the year website, the criteria states: “we are not looking for the ready-made undergraduate. You will be able to tell us about how you have gained skills and knowledge from any work experience you have had, previous internships, volunteering and the societies you are involved in on campus.”

With all the Gracie is involved in she hopes this will bring her further success in her bid to be named as the Management Undergraduate of the Year 2016.

She went on to tell Pluto she was surprised to hear from the company, “I was shocked when I woke up to the email saying I was successful as I wasn’t expecting it, however I’m so happy that I’ve got through but it still hasn’t really sunk in yet!”

On behalf of everybody at Pluto, we would like to wish Gracie the best of luck and hope to see one of our own student media volunteers bring home the award!
