UCLan SU awarded for Green Innovation

UCLan Students’ Union received two awards at last nights NUS Awards 2015.

The Students’ Union were awards with the Gold status for the Green Impact scheme as well as the Environmental Innovation Award (Large Commercial) award.

This award was presented to the Students’ Union for progressive ideas and actions towards environmental and sustainability,

Students’ Union President Josie Linsel said: “I’m unbelievably proud of the SU and in particular Green Ladder for all of the hard work they’ve put into achieving Gold Standard and for winning this national award. The 2014/15 Officer team should be proud of the input they’ve had into achieving this brilliant award”.


One of UCLan’s partnership colleges, Wigan and Leigh College were also awarded Environmental Innovation Award for non-commercial  Students’ Union.

UCLan is also a finalist for the Green Gown Awards and the Small Acorns, Large Oaks student led project is up for the Student Engagement Award in November.

Sam Johnson has been involved with both UCLan and Wigan and Leigh College, and said: “It has been a great year working with both UCLan Students’ Union and Wigan & Leigh SU. Well done to both teams and I am so glad to be a part of them both. Gaining a Gold and Special award shows the hard work and dedication of the people within both offices”
