UCLan women kept up their fine form and have now won 5 from 5 after their victory against Keele 1’st at the UCLan Sports Arena.
This week’s attention turned to the Northern Conference Cup where they have now passed through to the Quarter finals with yesterday’s win.
For most of the first half UCLan comfortably dominated possession and kept Keele deep in their own half trying to find a breakthrough.
After 10 minutes and three successive corners, Lauren Oatley curled the ball in from the left and Cherrelle Archibald found the bottom left corner to give UCLan the lead which they thoroughly deserved.
Halfway through the first half Oatley latched onto a loose ball, rounded the helpless Keele keeper and put the ball just wide of the post.
Before the interval Georgia France received the ball just inside Keele’s half, exchanged passes with Beck Mcgrath and then hit a shot firmly from 30 yards which rattled the cross bar.
The start of the second half saw Keele come into the game more and applied pressure on UCLan’s back four which dealt well with the attacks.
With an hour gone, UCLan were back on the front foot playing some fantastic football and making Keele work tirelessly.
France saw the keeper off her line from 20 yards out and neatly placed the ball out of the keepers reach to give the home side a two-goal cushion.
With minutes to go and UCLan cruising, Oatley found space on the left, cut inside and picked out Cherelle Archibald in the middle who headed home to cap off the win.
